Although Irwin is only 10 miles from the town of Crested Butte, it receives three times more snow than the town of Crested Butte. At an average of 600 inches per year Irwin is considered a powder mecca, often compared to Alta, Utah and the Canadian Rockies. We get consistent storms of low-density snow and therefore ski a lot of high quality, dry, cold smoke powder. Terrain selection is mainly dependent on group ability and snow conditions. We can accommodate skiers from intermediate to expert skill levels.
The passenger cabins on our snow cats are heated, very comfortable and offer phenomenal views of our terrain. Skiing starts at 9:00 am and we go until 4:00 pm with a fireside hot lunch served around noon. We generally get 8-12 runs and around 10,000 to 15,000 feet of vertical per day.
